Velvet Leaf Sustainable Clothing

I came across this YouTube video of a Velvet Leaf fashion show, packaged as a news segment for Your Green Life Eco News, an online eco CNN.  Some of the interview questions are kind of lame (“What’s it like working with your sister??”), but it’s totally worth checking out.  And Velvet Leaf’s site is pretty cool too.  They have a sporty, relaxed aesthetic…which isn’t my personal thing (I like a more structured look), but it looks great nonetheless.  And one of those little cape dresses I could see on almost any woman today.

The designers make a good point about how it’s important to use socially responsible practices as a routine part of their business rather than something “special.”  Ultimately, green fashion is going to take off when designers just integrate green principles into their work as a matter of practice rather than to take advantage of a market opportunity, so it’s great to see the effort.

Check it out!
