What are YOU Wearing to FFP This Year? Belabumbum!

 Belabumbum 2007 Collection

Belabumbum was dreamt up in 2001 by 2 college friends Alyssa Weiss & Heidi Rauch, who strongly believe in well being, laughter & creativity. Belabumbum was inspired by Heidi’s development work in South American & tales of better fabrics, cuts and comfort in sunny Brazil.

After working for 15 years with street children and other marginalized communities in the Caribbean, Central & South America, Heidi learned two major life lessons—job creation is the only way to alleviate poverty and improve people’s quality of life over the long term, and women’s clothing is made much better in Brazil! Belabumbum is Heidi’s attempt to put these two lessons together, by promoting the development of small, family-run production houses in Brazil that ensure excellent working conditions and increases job opportunities.

In 2001 the two headed to Rio together to begin their development research to find a community to work with and to get inspiration from all things Brazilian!

Belabumbum works with socially conscious manufacturers in Brazil to ensure excellent working conditions and job security to over one hundred low-income Brazilian families. Belabumbum’s primary production house has won numerous Social Responsibility awards from the Small Business Administration in Brazil for its recycling programs, health care package, continuing education and revolving credit for employees, educational outreach programs for schools, and other social assistance programs. Over the last three years, Belabumbum has helped to stabilize small businesses and create new employment opportunities for 60 new workers (primarily women) in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Belabumbum provides training and managerial assistance to its factories to ensure quality and increase steady growth.

Belabumbum is proud to announce its eco-friendly collections! Made of organic bamboo which is locally grown, belabumbum has designed both maternity & lingerie styles for Spring/Summer 2008

Of course Alyssa wanted to design items for herself, like lace nursing bras that are functional and pretty. Finally, maternity lingerie that looks lovely! Belabumbum believes that women grow more beautiful during pregnancy, and we also believe that pregnancy can be so much fun. Belabumbum’s maternity line encourages women to feel pampered, sexy, womanly, and just plain cool during what is truly one of the most important times of a woman’s life– during and fter pregnancy. Over the last year Belabumbum has more than doubled its maternity business, and has recently developed a partnerships some one of the largest maternity websites & retailers in the US & Europe.

Belabumbum 2007 CollectionBelabumbum’s founders started the company with the idea that the business would be there to support their lifestyles – not run it. They love the idea of creating a “mafia” of smart, motivated, and like-minded women who could share in their success. For example, making room for baby and business has been a motivating factor both in designing maternal apparel and managing belabumbum. Co-Founder Alyssa Weiss can often be found racing to nursery school with Zack & Sydney, while simultaneously providing excellent customer service. Belabumbum’s relationship with Parish PR also began when Nicola Parish, started her own consulting company to be a work-at home mom. Whether it’s the sales-reps they work with, or the photographer who orchestrates their striking photo shoots, Belabumbum aims to employ people they genuinely like and admire.
